Like many Dulwich boys, I became a Wodehouse fan at an early age, weaned from 'Just William' to the Wooster stories by my brother. My hero-worship continued and increased over the years , and one wet Sunday in 1970 I had the notion of making a portrait.
The medium I chose was scratchboard - for those unfamiliar with this product, one starts with a black surface and removes it gradually with a pointed tool to reveal the white underneath.
